Oxnard traffic initative, alive and well

On Monday, May 19, 2008, volunteers turned over 6,568 signatures in favor of the “Oxnard traffic initiative” to the City Clerk of Oxnard for certification. The City Clerk has up to 30 days in which to act. The traffic initiative limits large new construction until traffic problems in the area are addressed. As only 5,828 valid signatures are needed to place the initiative on the November ballot, and as all signatures were validated in advance with voter registration rolls by volunteer signature takers, it is assured that the City Clerk will certify the petition. Signature validation will be done by the County Election Commission.

The traffic initiative is a huge step forward to help improve quality of life issues facing the residents of Oxnard and to help improve air quality in Ventura County.
